A suit built from your own measurements and chosen fabric, fitted before it is finished.
What made-to-measure actually involves
Made-to-measure starts from your own measurements rather than a size chart: a tailor takes them in person and builds the pattern from those numbers, which is why the first appointment is unhurried and involves more than a tape measure.
Nothing is cut before you have seen and approved a written specification — fabric, cut and details — and the price that goes with it. The deposit taken at that point confirms the order; it is not charged for simply booking an appointment.
A fitting partway through checks the half-built garment against your body and catches anything the initial measurements did not anticipate, which is normal and part of the process rather than a sign of an error.
What is included
- Fabric is chosen at the appointment from what the showroom has available or can source for you.
- The specification — cut, lapel, lining, buttons — is written out and shown to you before the deposit is taken.
- A second or third fitting is scheduled if the first shows an adjustment is needed.
Conditions
- The deposit is taken only after you approve the written specification, not at the first appointment.
- Changes to the specification after the deposit is paid may affect price and timeline — see Tailoring Terms.
- Timelines vary with fabric availability and current workload; the showroom confirms one for your order.
