Tailoring Terms
Deposit, order approval, changes, fittings, and alterations or remakes for made-to-measure work at Surmesur. No blanket “no refunds” rule applies to the deposit.

Who you are ordering from
The tailoring provider is Surmesur, with a showroom at 1075 Rue Vincent-Massey, Québec City. Sable Atelier is the website brand used to present that service online; it is not a separate company and it builds nothing in its own name.
Order approval
Nothing is cut until you have seen and approved a written specification — fabric, cut and details — and the price that goes with it. Approval happens at the showroom, in person or by the channel agreed with your tailor.
The deposit
A deposit is taken once you approve the specification, confirming the order, and goes toward the final price. It is not charged for the first appointment or for measuring.
Fittings
At least one fitting checks the half-built garment against your body; further fittings are scheduled if adjustments are needed. Timelines for fittings are confirmed per order, particularly where a fixed event date applies.
Changes to the order
Requesting a change to fabric or specification after the deposit is paid may affect price and timeline; your tailor confirms the impact before proceeding with the change.
Alterations and remakes
Minor fit adjustments after the final fitting are handled as alterations, priced separately. Where the finished piece does not match the approved specification, Surmesur assesses whether a remake is warranted, as set out on the Alterations and remakes page.
Cancelling an order
Tell Surmesur as soon as possible if you need to cancel. How much of a paid deposit can be refunded depends on how much work has already gone into the order — fabric already cut cannot be reused, and that is reflected honestly rather than a blanket forfeiture.
Returns
Because each piece is built to your own measurements, a completed made-to-measure order that matches the approved specification is not a stock item and is not returnable for a change of mind. If a finished piece does not match what was approved, that is covered by the alterations and remakes process above, and your statutory rights for faulty work are unaffected by any of this page.
